MEDITATION MENTORING

OVERVIEW

The idea of meditation is easy, but the implementation and practice are often very difficult. The author, Sam Harris, likens it to walking a tight rope. If you read the instructions it will say something along the lines of: Find a horizontal cable that can support your weight, stand on one end, step forward by placing one foot directly in front of the other, repeat, don’t fall. In theory, easy. In practice, we fall off all the time when starting out.

Meditation coaching is a way of supporting you in your practice. Your mind will drift ceaselessly, you may become frustrated, you may find it difficult to find the time to commit to your practice. Whatever the challenge, you will be guided and equipped with knowledge and insights that will set you on the path to success. Meditation will become integrated into your life, something you will benefit from for the long term.

APPROACH

 

Week 1 – Foundations of mindfulness meditation – Awareness and Acceptance.
We begin by understanding how the mind works and how the principles of mindfulness and meditation can be utilised to influence our perceptions and behaviours.

Week 2 – Building a sustainable practice.
We explore the science of habit building so that you are not relying on willpower to commit to your practice. It becomes part of your everyday routine, just like brushing your teeth.

Week 3 – Adjusting your approach to meet your needs.
Different approaches to meditation can benefit us in different ways. By learning a variety of approaches you are equipped with greater versatility in your practice.

Week 4 – Mastering your mind.
The practice becomes something that you can access anytime, anywhere. You will learn how to focus your mind at will, to become more patient, to optimise your outlook on life.

  • 1 x 60 minute face to face or skype coaching session per week
